Josefa Idem is a leading woman in Italian sports history. She has won more medals in World Championships and the Olympics.

She is the first and only woman in Italian kayaking history that has won World Championships and Olympic medals.

Up until 2002 she has won 6 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals between World Championships and the Olympics. In European competitions she won 8 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal. Also one World Cup in '99.

She has won forty World Cup games, by centering eighty podiums
